"Arrow" fans do not need to worry about any cancellation news since The CW already announced early this year that the TV adaptation of the DC Comics series has been renewed for season 4. Still, things will be a little different when Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and his friends return for the show's next run.
In April, series developer Marc Guggenheim announced through his Twitter account that co-executive producer Wendy Mericle has been promoted as the new co-showrunner for "Arrow" season 4. But the changes do not end there. Onscreen, Oliver will have to face new villains who will be introduced in the upcoming season. One of them is Damian Darkh, who was first mentioned in the episode titled "Al Sah-Him."
Oliver first heard of the name when Ra's al Ghul (Matthew Nable) told him that Damian was supposed to be the leader of the League of Assassins but he decided to betray the organization by taking off with all of its secrets and formed his own group called H.I.V.E, which is reportedly slated to become a big part of the series next season.
At this point, there are no announcements yet about the actor who will portray the role of the next "Arrow" villain.
Meanwhile, several speculations claim that another DC Comics character will be joining the Arrow after his own show was cancelled by NBC. Variety posted a report saying that since "Constantine" was pulled out from NBC's line-up, Matt Ryan's character could cross over the superhero series of The CW.
Guggenheim confessed that bringing Constantine to Starling City is very tempting, but he cited several hurdles before it can even be considered.
"It would be wonderful and we certainly have a million ideas — it's hard for me to say mainly because A: it's not my decision to make and B: with 'Constantine' being shopped around to other networks... it's really hard to make plans when a show's kind of in limbo," the "Arrow" showrunner said.
"Arrow" season 4 is slated to be released later this year.
