'Scandal' and 'How to Get Away With Murder' news, spoilers: Annalise Keating, Olivia Pope join forces in special crossover episode

With the new trend on television being crossovers by fan-favorite characters, "Scandal" and "How to Get Away With Murder" are set to release an episode that will see Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) crossing paths with Annalise Keating (Viola Davis). ABC has announced that the special crossover episode will air on their "Thank God It's Thursday" lineup.

"Grey's Anatomy" and "Station 19" will kick off the crossover special on March 1 at 8 p.m. EST, while the "Scandal" and "How to Get Away With Murder" programming will follow at 9 and 10 p.m. EST, respectively. The special "Scandal" episode will be titled "Allow Me to Reintroduce Myself" and is expected to be a tension-filled episode wherein Pope will be seen moving out of the White House. In the midst of it, she will meet the ruthless criminal defense attorney played by Davis.

Together, they will work on fast-tracking a judicial reform class action to the United States Supreme Court. However, since Pope's storyline on "Scandal" has been deeply mired in controversy as of late, it seems the two lead characters might just have many challenges to face as they seek support from both their allies.

The "Scandal" episode will end with the resolution of the case hanging in the balance, as the episode leads to "How to Get Away With Murder's" "Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" episode. It is set to focus on the crucial meeting between Annalise and Olivia as it becomes a pivotal moment in the escalation of the class action case to the higher courts. Actress Liza Weil's "Bonnie" will also discover information about "Simon," played by Behzad Dabu. This discovery might lead to an expose as to what really occurred during the night he was shot.

"How to Get Away With Murder" co-star Aja Naomi King will also play a pivotal role in the "Scandal" episode, which is under the writing credits of Raamla Mohamed and directing helm of Tony Goldwyn. "How to Get Away With Murder's" "Lahey v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" episode" was written by Morenike Balogun and Sarah L. Thompson and was directed by Zetna Fuentes.
