Android 4.3 update: HTC One Dev Edition owners to get Sense and Jelly Bean 4.3 this week

HTC President Jason Mackenzie confirmed today that HTC One Developer Edition owners would be getting its Sense custom interface and Android 4.3 this week.

Mackenzie tweeted today: "Good news - the latest Sense experience & Android 4.3 will push to One Dev Edition owners this week and One customers in Canada by month end.

He followed that up with: "We're still working hard & optimistic for U.S. carrier certification - stay tuned to @HTCUSA for more news soon."

Mackenzie indicated a while back that HTC One would skip the Android 4.2. update in favour of the Android 4.3.

He promised last week that he would be making some announcements early this week for roll out across SKUs - or carriers.

A month ago he clarified via Twitter that HTC was leapfrogging Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean because it was a minor update and so would be going straight to Android 4.3 instead.

So it looks like HTC One owners signed to AT&T, Spring, T-Mobile and perhaps Verizon will be able to enjoy Android 4.3 very soon.

Twitter user Mobile Manny made this point today though: "@JasonMacHTC Who needs Android 4.3 when you already have everything that Sense brings to the  #HTCONE."
