Rumors about bringing the Slender Man to the spotlight in the next season of "American Horror Story" have started to circulate on various entertainment sites. But sources close to the makers of the horror anthology series have refuted the claims.

The speculations regarding the Slender Man was first reported by US Weekly, saying that the show is planning to feature the popular Internet meme developed by forum users on website Something Awful.

"Someone else wrote the script, and 'AHS' wants to adapt it to fit the show," a source claimed. "They have to buy the rights. Then they're going to figure out the cast from there."

But sources confirmed to several entertainment news outfits that the theme for "American Horror Story" season 6 will not be about the Internet meme that have scared netizens since 2009.

According to Entertainment Weekly, an insider can confirm that the plot for the upcoming season of "American Horror Story" has been developed, but it does not include the Slender Man. However, the people behind the series will not unveil the story for season 6 until March.

Meanwhile, a source told E! News that the theme for "American Horror Story" season 6 was already hinted at in the past seasons of the show.

Series co-creator Ryan Murphy previously admitted to E! that he already told some of the cast about his plans for season 6. However, he did not reveal who among them received firsthand information about the future of the series.

At the moment, there is no word yet if five-time cast members Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will join the cast of "American Horror Story" season 6.

Fans are also wondering if singer-actress Lady Gaga, who won her first Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Television Film for her role as The Countess Elizabeth in "American Horror Story Hotel," will also come back for another regular role next season.
