'American Horror Story' season 5 spoilers: Lady Gaga's bedazzled claws star in first promo

Lady Gaga in American Horror Story: Hotel Lady Gaga's Twitter page

It is still a few more months before Lady Gaga channels her inner monster and scare the viewers of "American Horror Story," but a first glimpse of the scaring prowess of the pop superstar was already hinted at in a new creepy video.

The official Twitter account of FX's hit horror anthology series posted the first promo clip for its fifth season subtitled "Hotel," and it stars the Mother Monster herself.

The video shows the fashionable pop icon's bedazzled claws as she rings the bell in the hotel's front lobby. Although Gaga's face was not featured in the promo, her long, pointy silver-painted nails are enough to send chills down a viewer's spine.

During the show's panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2015, series creator Ryan Murphy revealed that Gaga herself wrote to him to ask him if she could be a part of the horror anthology's next season.

"I wrote back, 'Yes. CAPS CAPS...'" Murphy shared. "The best call ever is 'Please wait for Gaga', and she got on the phone and could not have been lovelier."

Murphy also said that the "Bad Romance" singer will portray an "evil" character, and that she was also the one who requested it.

"She said, 'I want to be evil.' And I said, 'OK, you came to the right place,'" the esteemed writer-director revealed.

However, those who are expecting to see Gaga perform musical numbers in "AHS: Hotel" might be disappointed. Murphy said that the Grammy-winning singer will not have a singing part in the series. Instead, Gaga's fashion sense will be highlighted in the show.

"Part of her role involves fashion. You want Lady Gaga to look a certain way. The designers have been coming out of the woodwork with looks for her," Murphy explained.

Meanwhile, the other cast of the show joined Murphy during the SDCC 2015 panel, and they revealed their character names for the upcoming season. Matt Bomer revealed that he will play Donovan; Kathy Bates' character is named Iris; Angela Bassett will be Ramona; Evan Peters will portray the role of Mr. March; and Sarah Paulson will star as the fantastically-named Hypodermic Sally.

It is also revealed that Paulson's character will die sometime in the season.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" is slated for release in October.
