The wait for AMD's next powerful graphics card, the Radeon RX 490, is rumored to be over before the end of the year, but new reports claim that the wait for the GPU may last for a little while.

Early speculations claimed that AMD Radeon Rx 490 will be released in the fourth quarter of 2016, but the company's latest Investor Presentation that was revealed in August pointed out that the company is planning to unveil their next-generation graphics and processor products in 2017 up to 2018.

According to the investor report, AMD wants to focus on obtaining more lucrative graphics and client computing share and widen their semi-custom business in 2016. They also have a lot of business plans for the year, which could mean that their focus is on the business side of the operation instead of releasing a new product.

The presentation may have been hinting that the Sunnyvale, CA-based semiconductor company may not be ready to release the new GPU before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, gamers are excited to get their hands on the new Radeon RX 490 because it reportedly comes with better specs compared to its predecessor.

According to VideoCardz, the new 14nm Vega 10 GPU will feature a 16384 MB HBM2 memory size, 4096-bit memory bus width, and 716.8 GB/s memory bandwidth with PCI-Express 3.0 x16 interface. It will also have a 1,200 MHz base clock, 350 (1,400) MHz memory clock, and 9,830 GFLOPS computing power.

The specs prove that the upcoming graphics card will be compatible with 4K games. However, there are no details yet regarding the possible price range for the said device at the moment.

AMD is expected to make the announcement about the release date of the Radeon RX 490 graphics card.
