Big surprises are coming when "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns to ABC this week for the second half of season 3.

As seen in the latest trailer for the midseason premiere of the sci-fi superhero drama, a huge number of Inhumans will try to disrupt the world's peace and order. But Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents will be there to stop them.

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode titled "Bouncing Back," Coulson becomes more determined to go after Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe) to finally put an end to Hydra. This will prompt him to seek the help of the president of the United States, Matthew Ellis (William Sadler), who will offer a little help to the agency.

However, Coulson is expected to become a changed man after he killed Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) during the first half of the season. But viewers will get to see how he will react after seeing Ward's body return from Maveth under the control of an unknown Inhuman.

Meanwhile, Daisy (Chloe Bennet) will lead the rest of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in their fight against the Inhumans with strong powers. She and Mack (Henry Simmons) will try to track down as many Inhumans as they can and establish a team of secret warriors that will help them train and protect those individuals with special powers. However, the strong presence of Inhumans will cause conflicting public opinions, which will make it hard for them to push through with their mission.

One of the Inhumans who will be introduced in "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 is Elena Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), who will also be known as Slingshot in the series. She is expected to possess the power of speed that makes her move from one place to another without being seen.

The "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 midseason premiere airs Tuesday, March 8, on ABC.
