Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) took Los Angeles by storm when she moved to the City of Angels in the premiere episode of "Agent Carter" season 2. But the adventures of the female SSR officer seems to get tougher in the upcoming installments of the season.

During the two-hour season premiere, Peggy was assigned to move to Los Angeles when the city's newly appointed SSR chief Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) asked New York City chief Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) to help him investigate a high profile murder case.

But it turned out that the crime was not just a simple murder. Instead, the agents discovered that the female victim's body was enveloped in a mysterious substance called the Zero Matter, which made it glow, and a secretive council called the Council of Nine is behind the major events in the city.

The female agent also met the Isodyne labs scientist named Dr. Wilkes (Reggie Austin), who helped her understand the effects of Zero Matter, as well as the Isodyne boss and Senate-hopeful Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham) and his actress-wife Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett).

It turned out that Chadwick was the one who ordered the killing of the woman because she was already exposed to the Zero Matter. Agent Carter realized the danger brought by the mysterious element, which is why she decided that she needed to get it before it fell in the wrong hands. But Frost managed to reach the location before Carter and Wilkes did.

At the end of the two-part season premiere, Frost and Wilkes fought to get the Zero Matter before it fell to the ground and exploded. The actress managed to survived the explosion, but she seemed to absorb the mysterious material. However, Wilkes fate remains unknown.

For the third episode of "Agent Carter" season 2 titled "Better Angels," the synopsis revealed that "Peggy's search for the truth about Zero Matter puts her on a collision course with her superiors as Howard Stark barnstorms in."

Will Agent Carter see Dr. Wilkes again in the upcoming episode?

"Agent Carter" season 2 episode 3 airs Tuesday, Jan. 26, on ABC.
