Players of the "Halo" first-person shooter game series have more things to look forward to when "Halo 5: Guardians" is released later this year. A recent report in the July issue of the Game Informer reveals the game's exciting contents, including a lot of free maps.

Game director Josh Holmes talked about the upcoming game in the popular video game magazine, saying that 20 multiplayer DLC maps, 15 of them to come out this year, can be downloaded by the players for free as soon as they become available.

Holmes shared why game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft decided to hand out the expansion maps for free, saying: "As we started on the multiplayer experience for Halo 5, we talked a lot about the problem of dividing the player base. When you have paid map packs and content, you divide the player base into two groups: the haves and have nots. The people that have the map pack can play together but the people that don't cannot."

"That to us is a real problem. So we're delivering all the maps to all players free so everybody will be able to play together. That, we feel, is really important to having a great multiplayer ecosystem," the creative director added.

This will make the players' gaming experience even more exciting since everyone can now have the same maps.

Aside from the free multiplayer DLC maps, "Halo 5" will also let players get a support team comprised of three AI that they can order to do different tasks, whether they are playing as the Master Chief or Spartan Locke. The AI teammates can revive the players' life as well.

It is also mentioned that other characters like Linda, Fred, and Kelly will join the Chief.

The July issue of Game Informer also mentions that Microsoft will feature a "completely new, epic multiplayer experience" in their "Halo 5: Guardians" reveal at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 in Los Angeles from June 16 to 18.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is slated to come out on Oct. 27 exclusively for the Xbox One.
