While "Yuri!!! on Ice" creator Mitsurou Kubo has hinted that there will be a second season for the breakthrough anime series, there is still no official word on whether it is really happening. However, it is said that the fate of "Yuri on Ice" season 2 will be sealed today, April 29, as, allegedly, the anime will finally be officially announced.

Despite breaking away from the usual and more popular combat and fantasy genre of anime, there is no denying that "Yuri!!! on Ice" season 1 was one of the most popular anime series last year. In fact, according to reports, the Blue-Ray copies of the anime series are some of the most purchased in record stores this month.

Earlier this year, Kubo got fans excited when she hinted that "Yuri!!! on Ice" will have a season 2. According to reports, the anime's creator was asked if she had any plans of watching the then-ongoing figure-skating competition in Japan, which is the theme of her anime series. In response, though, Kubo said:

"For the rest of this year I'll be pouring all my energy into 'Yuri on Ice!' but I do plan on cheering for the matches on TV and online! I have a lot of plans in the works with the director for next year... including the wish to create a sequel. So I'm doing my best and working hard for that reason!"

While Kubo's statement fueled the excitement of fans, it was no way official, and many are still left wondering whether "Yuri!!! on Ice" season 2 is really happening. However, according to recent reports, the anime may finally be officially announced today, April 29, at the anime's "Yuri on Stage!" event. In fact, it is said that the anime is already in its production stage and is slated to arrive this October.

Is "Yuri!!! on Ice" season 2 really happening? Will it be announced today, April 29? Is it really slated to arrive this October?
