Xiaomi has just added a new smartphone to its 2018 collection, the Mi 6X, boasting a powerful dual camera setup with appended AI features. The tech manufacturer is set to release the device to the Chinese market this week, although it is possible that the Mi 6X will find its way to other locations around the world, including the United States.
As reported by The Verge, the new Xiaomi Mi 6X camera highlights its dual rear camera, and its features can be further explored by using AI commands. Xiaomi has already introduced AI-assisted features to its previous devices with dual-lens camera, including the Mi Mix 2S. One of the AI commands that the Mi 6X camera will perform is the automatic switching of the shooting mode, which will depend on the current lighting condition around the subject.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X dual camera is comprised of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 sensor and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX376 lens. The single-lens snapper at the front is also impressive with its 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor, and the front cam also features a Selfie LED light module and the updated version of Beautify.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X sports a 6-inch display with 2,160x1,080 resolution LCD screen panel. The fingerprint reader is located at the rear side of the handset, or just below the dual camera module. Instead of using a 3.5mm headphone jack to plug in the earphone, the Mi 6X has the USB Type C port. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor.
Users can choose among the five available color variants of the Xiaomi Mi 6X, red, blue, black, gold, and rose gold. The handset is also available in three models based on their storage and RAM capacities. The low-end variant has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-iin storage, which is priced at USD $250. The mid-range option includes 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, costing USD $280, while the top-end variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at USD $315, according to Android Central.
