The Xbox One X has been presented as the ultimate console that can deliver 4K graphics while playing the biggest video games of today. While this sounds like a great news for gamers, not everyone owns a 4K monitor, although the Xbox One X has supersampling capabilities that will enhance the textures while downscaling the display resolution to 1080p. At this point, there is an even better news as the Xbox One X, as well as the Xbox One S, will be able to support 1440p resolution in the near future.

The current supersampling feature of the Xbox One X is only limited to 1080p downscaled resolution. Those players owning a 1440p quad high-definition (QHD) monitor can only enjoy their favorite games at a much lower resolution. However, that will soon change as Microsoft executive Kevin Gammill revealed on Twitter that the latest Xbox One X and Xbox One S consoles will receive 1440p support.

"Many questions recently around the timing of our 1440p support ... Those of you in our early preview ring should be pleasantly surprised very soon if you have an Xbox One S or Xbox One X," Gammill said. According to Slash Gear, what Gammill meant about the early preview ring is the Xbox Insider program, which gives the Xbox console owners a preview of the upcoming system changes, in which they will be able to give their comments.

It seems that the 1440p support in the Xbox One X and Xbox One S will be tested first in the Xbox Insider program. As to when this could happen, Gammill did not give a specific time period for its launch. Meanwhile, Tech Radar stated that the Xbox One S support on 1440p display is interesting since the console does not have 4K capabilities nor a supersampling feature. Nevertheless, it is possible that its 1440p support will be related to video playback.
