Xbox One Project Scorpio specs, price: emphasis on true 4K Gaming; VR support not a priority?

Microsoft has emphasized that it is "really serious" in achieving true 4K gaming with the Xbox One Project Scorpio, which is slated for release next year.

In an interview with TXR Podcast, Xbox Games Marketing head Aaron Greenberg admitted that this feat will require Project Scorpio to have a massive amount of power.

However, the determination of the company to make this happen is far greater. The developers are now hard at work in making a "beast" out of the Project Scorpio to cater to the 4K gaming needs of users.

In terms of Virtual reality or VR support, Xbox head Phil Spencer was a bit indistinct when it comes to its plans for the Xbox One Project Scorpio in terms of this emerging gaming innovation.

"I will say, we're very focused on console games and what console gamers want, and I see VR as something different," Spencer told The Guardian, adding that he is not on board with the idea of VR as the "future of console gaming."

"I'm saying if you're an Xbox One console gamer, we are so focused on making your experience the best experience you've ever had with the best lineup of games. We're not getting distracted," he explained.

Interestingly, the Project Scorpio was billed to cater to high fidelity VR experiences when it was unveiled at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016.

That being said, VR might still be on the table although specific details about how it will be incorporated in the Project Scorpio remains unclear at the moment.

The Xbox One Project Scorpio will be released sometime in 2017. As fans wait for the next-generation Microsoft console, they can turn their attention first to the Xbox One S.

The upgraded but trimmed down version of the current Xbox One, which comes with 2TB storage, will be available for purchase on Aug. 2, Microsoft recently announced.

Because of its imminent release as well as the hype for Xbox One Project Scorpio, which is set to offer 6 teraflops of processing performance, Xbox One sales have declined./
