WWE SummerSlam 2016 predictions: Dean Ambrose tipped to retain title after Dolph Ziggler clash

Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler at WWE SummerSlam 2016 WWE.com

WWE SummerSlam 2016 will pit WWE champion Dean Ambrose against Dolph Ziggler in what is being deemed to be a nail-biter of a main event.

Ziggler earned the right to battle The Lunatic Fringe for the title after the Six-Pack Challenge. His victory was not something viewers were expecting, but it reaffirmed SmackDown as the land of opportunities, as per Auburn Pub.

The Showoff's win was rather a surprise as there was no build up about a possible feud with Ambrose. This will be the reason why Ziggler will fail to snag the win at WWE SummerSlam, as per What Culture.

The site believes that the bad blood is just getting started and that SmackDown is going to develop Ziggler as a threat first before he is able to nab that title.

That being said, fans can expect Ambrose to cleanly defeat Ziggler at WWE SummerSlam 2016 and set off a new and heated feud between the two with The Showoff turning heel.

What Culture believes that through this, it will be Ziggler's time to shine and will be on the way to become the main-eventer fans always knew he is.

Apart from pulling Ziggler out the midcard, the WWE SummerSlam match will also propel Ambrose to new heights, as per Bleacher Report.

According to the site, The Showoff will likely be a champion in the future, but not by stealing it from Ambrose. He is not projected to win the title from The Lunatic at the August pay-per-view event but he is expected to be the first of the stars who will try and fail.

With Ambrose now expected to be at SmackDown's vanguard, the former Shield member is being poised to win and be the blue brand's top guy, especially with John Cena's reduced WWE schedule.

That being said, the WWE championship belt will likely stay in the asylum after WWE SummerSlam, which will take place on Sunday, Aug. 21 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
