WWE rumors 2016: Dean Ambrose as champ among the predictions; The Lunatic Fringe has a chance to drop the title

Dean Ambrose is expected to get a new competitor for his title when it is revealed how WWE will move forward with the rivalries on Raw.  It appears that we were going to see two completely new feuds at SmackDown where 'The Viper' Randy Orton would go after The Eater of the Worlds Bray Wyatt and AJ Styles would face Dean.

The originally advertised matches included WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose who was originally going to face Bray Wyatt vs. AJ Styles, WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz (w/ Maryse) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Kane vs. Alberto Del Rio. But since AJ has had to resolve the loose ends with John Cena, that had to be postponed. Dolph Ziggler was chosen as a substitute for Styles and was expected to lose to Ambrose.

Almost immediately after the WWE Draft and brand extension, WWE officials announced that they had booked Ziggler to face Dean Ambrose for the WWE Championship at WWE Summerslam to become the new WWE Champion.

Meanwhile, WWE fans are said to still be unhappy questioning whether  Dolph Ziggler defeating Dean Ambrose is fair. However, the feud with Ambrose is favouring Ziggler by bringing back the passion to his character that has been been missing for quite some time now. Also considering that WWE is more likely to continue pushing Ambrose as SmackDown's champion, this is understandable.

With Daniel Bryan rumoured to hold sway, Dean Ambrose might be looking forward to end up atop WWE. Ambrose story, however, is intertwined with a lot of unpredictability. A recent report pointed out to a premeditated scenario that does not include The Lunatic Fringe as WWE champ, but the company plans a drift in any direction. Ambrose finishing as WWE champ at the end of play may be just around the corner.

Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t PWMania.com) that the original plan for SummerSlam will be Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE title. That would mean, of course, that Ambrose would no longer hold the champions belt at that point.
