WWE 2K15 roster: CM Punk will have massive role for the latest version

Less than a month ago, a rumor circulated online claiming that former WWE champion CM Punk will be featured in the WWE 2K15 video game, yet is remained unconfirmed since the official roster will not officially come out until the SummerSlam weekend.

Now Operation Sports is confirming that CM Punk will definitely be in WWE 2K15, and will even have a huge role within the video game.

According to Operations Sports, WWE 2K15 has a new mode called 2K Showcase, featuring two of the most popular rivalries in WWE history, that of Triple H versus Shawn Michaels from 2002 until 2004 and John Cena versus CM Punk from 2011 up t 2013.

The press released published in Operation Sports stated: "2K Showcase will tell the epic history of the two rivalries through documentary-style video packages of classic WWE footage, authentic WWE Superstar commentary and cinematic cut scenes. In the 33 available matches across the rivalries, players will be tasked with completing a set of bonus historical objectives that will unlock new WWE Superstars, Championship titles and alternate attire that can be used in all other WWE 2K15 game modes. With this wealth of unlockable content, players can recreate current rivalries or stage dream matchups between WWE Superstars of the past and present. Additional 2K Showcase rivalries will be made available via downloadable content following the game's scheduled release on October 28, 2014 in North America and October 31, 2014 internationally."

Punk's involvement in the latest WWE game could earn him a lot of money, since he owns his ring name. WWE needed to pay for the rights of using it, as well as sell all of the merchandises under his name.

With CM Punk's addition to WWE 2K15, it will not come as a surprise if this edition will become the best-selling version in history.

The official release date of WWE 2K15 in the US will be in October 28 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles, while its European release is scheduled on October 31.
