Popular zombie film "World War Z" is getting a video game adaptation. The game will have four players, and it will be a co-operative survival game. The scheduled date for its release is set sometime in 2018.

According to Polygon, "World War Z" was first announced at the 2017 Game Awards. Similar to the novel that the movie was based on, the game will focus on several campaigns set in different parts of the globe. Instead of following in the movie's footsteps and concentrate on one main protagonist — the game follows the novel and features different protagonists for each of the different campaigns.

The upcoming game's trailer was uploaded to WWZ the Game's YouTube channel on Dec. 7. The trailer begins with several unseen narrators speaking of the zombie apocalypse. Civilization has fallen, people have been dying, and zombies roam the streets. The survivors have been separated from their loved ones and must now do anything in their power to survive.

It is a tale of isolation and survival, of trying to find hope in the bleakness of the zombie apocalypse. The trailer then goes on to feature the game's level design and graphics. Also, it will be introducing potential players to a handful of locations — areas that they will be exploring in the game.

Saber Interactive, the game's developers, stated that the campaigns would be playable in four player co-op. Whether the developers meant local co-op or online co-op, it has yet to be announced. However, it is certain that the game will be a multi-player game that encourages teamwork and strategies between players to survive.

"World War Z" was originally a novel titled "World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War." Written by Max Brooks, the story was composed of a series of interviews from various people scattered across the globe. Each of the stories narrated different events that took place during the zombie apocalypse. The book was later adapted into a movie in 2013.

The video game adaptation will be released sometime in 2018.
