While "Wonder Woman" has yet to prove its box-office worth, the upcoming movie's director has recently revealed that she already has plans for a sequel.
There is no denying that "Wonder Woman" is one of the most-anticipated movie events this year. After all, despite the popularity of the character for decades now, the upcoming movie will be the first-ever live-action solo film feature of the DC female superhero character.
In a recent interview, director Patty Jenkins has revealed her desire to direct another "Wonder Woman" movie. While the upcoming Gal Gadot-starrer is set mostly during the World War 1, Jenkins said that she wants the next "Wonder Woman" movie to be set in a more relatable time setting.
"I'd like to bring her a little farther along into the future and have a fun, exciting storyline that is its own thing. 'Wonder Woman 1' is so much about her becoming the person she is. I can't wait to spring forward with who she is and have another great standalone superhero film," Jenkins told the Toronto Sun recently.
While DC and Warner Bros. have yet to announce whether they are producing a "Wonder Woman" sequel, it was rumored earlier that, indeed, there will be a sequel to the upcoming movie. To recall, it was reported back in February that DC and Warner Bros. are happy with the feedback they got from the advanced screening of "Wonder Woman." Hence, a sequel is not really a far cry from happening.
Nonetheless, it is suspected that the fate of the sequel for the said movie is dependent on how it fares in the box-office. Earlier this month, it was predicted that "Wonder Woman" will do well in its box-office performance. However, it is said that it will not be as big as the other DC and Warner Bros. earlier movies, such as last year's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad."
Meanwhile, Gadot has recently revealed that, while "Wonder Woman" completed its production way before she conceived, the required reshoots happened when she was already pregnant. Looking back, the actress, who gave birth to her second child just last month, can't help feeling amused on how she looked like while breathing life to the character while she was heavy.
"On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman. On wide shots I looked very funny, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog," Gadot shared.
"Wonder Woman" hits theaters this June 2.
