Windows 10 Spring Creators Update release date delay latest news: Microsoft to delay launch to fix major bug

Users were expecting the arrival of the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update this week, but it appears that there will be a slight delay due to a major bug. Microsoft was set to release the next Windows OS update earlier this month, but the company has noted that a few issues must be fixed first before rolling out the update in Windows PC.

Microsoft head for Windows testing, Dona Sarkar, confirmed that the upcoming Windows 10 Spring Creators Update was found to have a major bug that causes sudden BSOD screen crashes.

Unfortunately, build number 17134 also has a huge glitch of its own, which causes a major problem in the Settings app. WCCFTech has noted that the current preview version of the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update does not allow users to access the Settings app properly. Specifically, clicking on Default Apps, then going to "Set defaults by app" option will make the Settings app crash immediately. Users will be brought back to the desktop page without any adjustments made on Settings.

It appears that the major bug in the Settings app is not limited in a few systems of the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update preview version. Now that the problem is more of a widespread issue, Microsoft is expected to further delay the release of the Spring Creators Update. The Windows 10 update was supposed to be out earlier this April, but Microsoft had to postpone the release to this week due to the earlier BSOD crash issue.

So far, some of the expected new features in the Windows 10 Spring Creators Update include an improved Cortana Notebook page, which will have two tabs that allow users to navigate around easier. The update will also have a settings option to fix the blurry appearance of some apps due to Windows' scaling.
