'Wayward Pines' season 2 spoilers: FOX releases teaser for new season

A new teaser for "Wayward Pines" season 2 has been released. FOX

A teaser for "Wayward Pines" season 2 was recently released by FOX. Although very short, the clip is already enough to excite fans about their return to the crazy little town.

"They say the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence," the teaser reads as a glimpse of a seemingly peaceful, family-friendly little town is shown until the hand of a ferocious monster is shown.

Fans of "Wayward Pines" will remember these flesh-eaters known as abbies are these very creatures the fence was built for. It looks like these abbies will continue to breed in "Wayward Pines" season 2.

Majority of the original cast are set to reprise their role in "Wayward Pines" season 2. Terrence Howard (Sheriff Arnold Pope), Carla Gugino (Kate) and Melissa Leo (Nurse Pam) and Toby Jones (David Pilcher) will all be returning.

Shannyn Sossamon (Therese Burke) and Charlie Tahan (Ben Burke) and Tim Griffin (Adam Hassler) will also be making an appearance in "Wayward Pines" season 2.

They will be joined by a new batch of actors that will continue the story of the town. The psychological thriller's return will see Dr. Theo Yedlin, played by Jason Patric, wake up in Wayward Pines, which is in the midst of a rebellion.

The First Generation is working on preserving Pilcher's legacy and is unwilling to deal with anyone who is not on board with it. Eventually, Theo will rise as somewhat of a leader in the town.

He has a wife named Rebecca played by Nimrat Kaur, who has secrets from her husband. Another "Wayward Pines" season 2 addition is Djimon Hounsou. He plays historian CJ Mitchum who knows an awful lot about Wayward Pines and how it came to be.

Another "Wayward Pines" season 2 newcomers are "Hannibal" star Kacey Rohl and "Mad Max: Fury Road" actor Josh Helman.

"Wayward Pines" season 2 premieres May 25 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
