'Wayward Pines' season 2 spoilers: 7 new trailers released for better look at a creepier Wayward Pines

"Wayward Pines" season 2 will premiere this Wednesday. FOX

"Wayward Pines" season 2 will premiere later this week, and what better way to get the excitement going than new teasers previewing the new chapter of the series. FOX released not one but seven teasers, enough for the remaining days of waiting.

The first promo features Jason Patric's Dr. Theo Yedlin, having his drink on with Terrence Howard's Arnold Pope (complete with his new fashion style) as he talks about an "evolutionary transition" in full swing in Wayward Pines.

The rest of the "Wayward Pines" season 2 promo give fans a good look at the horrors in the crazy little town and the lengths Tom Stevens' Jason Higgins is willing to go to keep Wayward Pines "safe" and to protect the legacy of its founder, Toby Jones' David Pilcher.

"Wayward Pines" season 2 is the continuation of the pre-planned one-off series based on Blake Crouch's novels. Majority of the cast from the first season will reprise their roles while new characters will also be introduced.

In "Wayward Pines" season 2, the First Generation are the ones in control of the town. The brutal reckonings are back (Jason did not hesitate to shoot troublemakers in the head in front of the townsfolk) and so are the abbies, who, at one point in the season, will once again find their way into the place.

Things are definitely a lot creepier in "Wayward Pines" season 2. Jason wants the next generation who will, in time, be in charge of preserving Wayward Pines equipped with the right knowledge and skills.

This is why part of the education is examining a dead abbie, which Hope Davis' Megan Fisher so happily uncovered in front of her justifiably horrified class.

Charlie Tahan will be back as Ben Burke. In one trailer, he was seen lurking about a huge field, where abbies also crept around. Shannyn Sossamon will reprise her role as Ben's mother Theresa Burke, but she is yet to show up in any "Wayward Pines" season 2 trailer.

"Wayward Pines" season 2 will premiere May 25 at 9pm ET on FOX.
