'Walking Dead' season 5 spoilers: Maggie's instincts, Michonne's bigger role, and new villains hound the survivors in new episodes

What's in store for Michonne (Danai Gurira) when TWD Season 5 returns.

Fans of "The Walking Dead" should prepare themselves for more heart-stopping scenes in the remaining eight episodes of season 5 which will air in just a few weeks.

In one of the latest trailers, Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) is seen giving a side-eye to another character. It could be meant for one of the regular characters of the show, including Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Glenn Rhenn (Steven Yeun), or Noah (Tyler James Williams), or it could be for somebody else who will be introduced in the second half of the season.

Some are speculating that a comic book character named Aaron will be added to the TV adaptation, and Maggie would be very wary of his presence. Wetpaint offered a character description of Aaron's character in the comic series. Based on the article, Aaron recruited the group to join the others in the Alexandria Safe-Zone in Alexandria, Virginia. This fits perfectly for Rick's group, since they are all heading to Richmond, Virginia to try to find Noah's loved ones.

Could this mean that Maggie's instincts about the new guy signify an impending danger for the group?

Meanwhile, there are also speculations saying that Danai Gurira's character Michonne will play a bigger role in the upcoming episodes after taking a back seat from the limelight in the first half of season 5. Although her upcoming arc is still undisclosed, it is very possible that Michonne will step up in the group who is still nursing the ache of losing Beth Green (Emily Keeney) during the midseason finale.

In another news, fans of the TV adaptation of Robert Kirkman's popular comic book series are now looking forward to the new villain in the show, after the cannibals at Terminus were eradicated. Earlier reports said that the ruthless Negan from the comics will be introduced to torment Rick and the group, but recent speculations are pointing toward "The Whisperers" as their next opponents.

In the comic books, The Whisperers is a group of survivors who choose to wear the skin of the undead on their faces to avoid being recognized by the zombies, and they communicate with each other by whispering. Yet no announcement from AMC has been released to confirm if the rumors about The Whisperers' appearance in the series are true.

"The Walking Dead" season 5 returns on Feb. 8.
