Major schedule changes will be implemented when the second half of "Vikings" season 4 returns to History Channel on Nov. 30.
The network announced that the hit historical drama was moved a day earlier from its original schedule. From the Thursday slot, the series will begin airing on Wednesday nights after its midseason hiatus. The time was also adjusted, and it will start airing at 9 p.m. instead of its original 10 p.m. schedule.
The first part of season 4 concluded with a major time jump after Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) left Kattegat when his mission to occupy Paris failed. Upon his return, all his sons were all grown up, and it seemed like none of them were pleased to see him.
The second half of the season will feature the chain of events that will start upon Ragnar's return. He will try to deal with King Ecbert (Linus Roache) to end their longstanding feud. His ex-wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), plots a power play in Kattegat, while their son, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig), will try to fulfill his lifelong dream to discover the Mediterranean using the boat built by Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård).
The fourth season of "Vikings" garnered a total of 4.3 million total viewers in Live +7 during the first 10 episodes of Season 4, with 2.1 million in the adult 25–54 demographics and 1.8 million in the adult 18-49 group.
"This season is monumental and unlike anything we've ever done," series creator and writer Michael Hirst said in a press statement as reported by Coming Soon. "We've propelled Vikings to the topmost level of historical drama as we follow storylines inspired by real-life events such as Bjorn Ironside sailing through the Mediterranean and Ivar the Boneless becoming the most feared warrior of all time. It's not a story of one man but a saga of Ragnar and his sons."
Production already began for the series' fifth season in Ireland.
