Just like real-life reality TV dating competitions that are currently lording over TV airwaves, things are beginning to be more complicated for the characters in Lifetime's new dark comedy-drama "UnREAL."
In the previous episode, Quinn (Constance Zimmer) finally realized that she and Chet (Craig Bierko) would never have a real, serious relationship with each other even after he finalized his divorce with his wife Cynthia (Sonya Salomaa) and asked her to marry him. But Quinn needed to be hurt again to realize that, and catching her new fiancé cheating on her with a very young production assistant pointblank was the only validation that she needed.
Last episode also showed Rachel (Shiri Appleby) finally giving in to her attraction toward Adam (Freddie Stroma) when they shared a very intimate moment together. But both the "Everlasting" producer and the show's "suitor" should be familiar with the hidden camera technology by now, since their private encounter was caught on cam. And if that's not unfortunate enough, Quinn saw the video while Rachel and Adam were doing the deed.
For the upcoming episode titled "Princess," Quinn will take advantage of her knowledge by blackmailing Adam to agree to star in a spin-off series with the winner of Everlasting, or she will expose the tape to the public.
Adam had been very vocal about his dislike to star in another reality show, but he will start contemplating Quinn's demand since he does not want to cross her because he wants to keep the tape private. Adam wants to protect Rachel, but does Rachel really need the protection?
A report posted on CarterMatt pointed out that Quinn earlier ordered Rachel to persuade Adam to agree on the new spin-off, and told her that she would assign her to be the executive producer of the show if the British reality show star would push through with it. Did Rachel intend to tape their intimate encounter all along?
The official synopsis for the episode reads:
Rachel deals with the repercussions of her impulsive decision. Quinn and Rachel question their future as producers. The final three contestants return to Adam's vineyard for romantic dates."
