'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' news: Level list leaked; cutscenes to be 'profound'

Naughty Dog takes pride in the cutscenes featured in "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" Naughty Dog/Sony

Less than a month before the highly anticipated release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," the list of the levels in the game may have been leaked via the GDC 2016 presentation of developer Naughty Dog.

As "Uncharted 4" lead technical artist Andrew Maximov talked about the game's art, the levels in the game were very briefly shown. The complete list is as follows:

  • Boat Intro
  • Orphanage
  • Prison
  • Dive
  • Home (or Nose, it's hard to make it out, but Home makes more sense)
  • The Prison
  • Auction
  • Scotland
  • Madagascar
  • City
  • Open Water
  • Island
  • Colony
  • Saner (or perhaps Manor)
  • River
  • Sunken Ruins
  • Passage
  • Ship-Graveyard
  • Cave
  • Epilogue

According to WCCFTech, the entries on this list are most likely codenames, but are nonetheless allusions to the "Uncharted 4" chapters, which may include more than one level. Also, the above-mentioned list may still be subject to change.

In other related news, lead designer Ricky Cambier boasts that the cutscenes in "Uncharted 4" will be "profound," thanks to the power of the PlayStation 4, where Nathan Drake's final adventure will be exclusively released.

"There have been games before that have done pretty big spaces," Cambier told MCV UK. "We wanted to do it at a certain visual quality that wouldn't have ever been possible except on the PS4. We are able to give you this much room to explore and still offer that level of detail," he promised.

Cambier added how "emotional" it was for the team, especially for "Uncharted 4" director Bruce Staley, to map out Nathan Drake's "final big jump," which they believe will effectively show what made the fortune-hunter the icon he is to gamers.

Speaking of which, "Uncharted 4" will allegedly come in a "pretty significant length," as Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer described it in a studio livestream picked up by DualShockers.

"Uncharted 4" will be released on May 10.
