'Titanfall 2' release date: Online listing hints game will be out later this year

Officially announced just last week, "Titanfall 2" could be released later this year after all. A listing by online retailer GAME hints that the first-person shooter will be released "TBC 2016."

However, GAME seems to have removed "2016" from the description of the listing already, which suggests that it might have been either a mistake or an inadvertent info giveaway.

Nevertheless, it is highly likely that "Titanfall 2" will hit the stores later this year. For starters, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has already stated that the game will be released during the second half of the company's fiscal year.

"We're not yet announcing when 'Titanfall' or 'Mass Effect Andromeda' will come, but you should assume that's in the back half of the year as well because our second quarter is so dominated by our sports titles," he said during the EA investor call.

That being said, it looks like "Titanfall 2" might see the light of day as early as October 2016, the latest being March 2017. But if GAME's listing is accurate, the release timing is more inclined to the former than the latter.

More details about "Titanfall 2" will be revealed on June 12, where a "worldwide announcement" about the game will take place. It will most likely during EA Play, a three-day off-site event to be held before E3.

This affair will likely be the stage for EA to reveal when Respawn's next "Titanfall" installment will be officially released.

Not much is known about the sequel yet, although WCCFTech seems to have found something on the game's official website. The publication played around with the image background on the website. With a little tweak on an editing software, the photo revealed what they make out as a wall-running Titan.

With regards to how "Titanfall 2" will look like, here's how lead writer Jesse Stern described it during an interview with Forbes:

So we are doing our best to deliver a vision of grand global colonial warfare retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space. We imagined the next generation of immigrants moving out to the new frontier of an inhabitable planet.
