'Thor: Ragnarok' plot spoilers: Soul Stone hidden in plain sight?

The Infinity Stones have been the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the beginning, and fans will finally see the powerful gems come together in "Avengers: Infinity War." So far, five of the six stones have already been discovered, with the Soul Stone being the final one left to be located. While Marvel has yet to reveal its whereabouts, a new intriguing theory surfaced recently, suggesting it has been hidden in plain sight all along.

According to Screen Rant, Odin (Anthony Hopkins) may have been hiding the Soul Stone for the entirety of his tenure as the King of Asgard, and it could have been secretly sitting behind his eyepatch the whole time. It posited that Hela (Cate Blanchett), the Asgardian goddess of death, used to have the gem which gave her control over life, but Odin somehow defeated her and took the stone, which he then used to replace his other eye.

This theory explains Odin's tremendous power. Movie Pilot recalled that he cast an enchantment to Mjolnir, Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) hammer, which assessed the worthiness of its bearer's soul.

The theory also compliments the popular theory about the all-seeing and all-hearing Asgardian and guard of the Bifrost Bridge, Heimdall (Idris Elba). In the graphic novels, the person who possesses the Soul Stone can use it to grant gifts to another. Should the theory be accurate, Heimdall's powers to see souls anywhere in the universe may have come from Thor's father.

Odin, who has been ousted as the ruler of Asgard, as seen from the post-credit scene of "Thor: The Dark World," presumably still has the stone. In "Ragnarok," Hela will eventually find him in New York and steal the stone, possibly killing Odin in the process. This will give her the ability to gain control over all the souls of the Nine Realms, basically earning the title Goddess of Death.

The theory neatly explains why Hela is seen powering up with an orange hue after Loki frees her in the "Ragnarok" trailer. It could be the scene when she finally retrieves the Soul Stone from Odin.

As usual, fans can only confirm once "Thor: Ragnarok" hits the big screens on Nov. 3.
