The sixth season of "The Walking Dead" is about to conclude, but fans are already interested to find out what's in store for the survivors when the series returns for season 7 later this year.
Robert Kirkman, the writer behind the comic series which the post-apocalyptic thriller is based on, told HollywoodLife that the season 6 finale will be "insane," and it will act as the primer for more exciting things for season 7.
"I don't know I think we are getting to the cool stuff! Everything in season six sets up all the insane stuff that will happen in season seven," Kirkman shared with the publication.
He also revealed that the plot of the TV series is starting to get a faster pace, which makes it more exciting. "It is unique for a show to get to the good stuff in the sixth and seventh season and I feel like that is what we are doing! And I am excited about that!" the comic book writer revealed.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter noted that one of the scenes in the penultimate episode of "The Walking Dead" season 6 is possibly a clue for the plot of season 7.
In the episode titled "East," Morgan (Lennie James) and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) encountered a mystery man wearing a protective armor and looking for his missing horse on a farm as the two were doing their own search for Carol (Melissa McBride).
Rick tried to shoot the guy because he noticed that the stranger was using the same spear made by the Hilltop community, but Morgan opted to stop him. This prompted the man to flee.
Fans of Kirkman's comic series believe that the mystery man could be a member of another community, called the Kingdom and led by a man named Ezekiel, which could be another threat to Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group in season 7.
Showrunner Scott M. Gimple did not confirm or deny the validity of this theory when asked during the midseason premiere. Instead, he replied that if it will really happen, he will not let that piece of information leak.
The sixth season finale of "The Walking Dead" airs on AMC on Sunday, April 3.
