The much-awaited "The Originals" crossover event is happening in the next episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 titled "Moonlight on the Bayou." Here, Stefan will be taking refuge in New Orleans.
With vampire huntress Rayna now after him and the most important people in his life, the younger Salvatore finds it best to draw her in to New Orleans, where his tracker's magic will be rendered out of action.
Stefan comes to New Orleans upon the advice of Valerie, who believes that Rayna's powers will be choked-up in a safe house there. However, "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 spoilers hint that Stefan is not entirely safe and sound there.
The synopsis for the crossover teases that Stefan will have to deal with Klaus Mikaelson first. The two are not exactly in the best of terms (there's this love triangle issue with Caroline), which will make the latter apprehensive of what brings Stefan to his territory.
However, "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec has already said that Stefan will be of help to Klaus as much as Klaus would be to Stefan. Both have something that will be of use to end their respective dilemmas.
Caroline will somehow be alluded to in this "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 installment but it remains unclear as to what extent. It is important to note though that at some point in the future, Caroline will be in New Orleans to visit an old friend, as hinted in the last episode's flash-forward.
Stefan's visit to New Orleans in "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 14 will also see him come across Freya, who seems to have something to contribute in regards to end Stefan's predicament.
"The actual episode is one of the most intense we've ever done. Stefan needs Freya's help with something that... well, you'll see," actress Riley Voelkel who plays Freya told TV Line.
While Stefan is busy with getting Rayna as far from Damon and the others as possible, Enzo figures out a way to get her off Stefan's tail for good and he will need Damon and Bonnie for it. Caroline, on the other hand, accompanies Alaric and the twins to Mystic Falls.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 episode 14 "Moonlight on the Bayou" airs Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CW.
