With developer Electronic Arts still silent about the console release of "The Sims 4," the popular life-simulation game is no longer expected to be released to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
According to reports, "The Sims 4" did not gain enough popularity to have it ported over to current-generation consoles. This reportedly leads EA to jump right into "The Sims 5" instead.
It is being said that "The Sims 4" was not received as well as "The Sims 3" was, which translated to poor sales performance of the game.
Now, it looks like EA will just release expansion packs for the current installment of the life-simulation video game franchise and then proceed with "The Sims 5."
The company will reportedly focus on PS4 and Xbox One support of the "The Sims 4" sequel as much as the PC version. It is being said that the game will be put together with consoles in mind.
With a new breed of consoles set to be released soon such as the Xbox One S, the Project Scorpio and the PlayStation Neo, EA allegedly plans to take advantage of the greater power of these consoles for "The Sims 4" sequel.
EA is even expected to incorporate virtual reality or VR technology in "The Sims 5." However, as exciting as it all sounds, it is recommended to take this report with a grain of salt.
If "The Sims 4" won't get a PS4 and Xbox One release, it will be the first game in the franchise that won't make a jump to the console. If EA has plans to bring the game to the platform, the company should make an announcement soon.
For now, it looks like EA has its focus on expanding "The Sims 4" with stuff packs and expansion packs. The latest one, the Backyard Stuff, is now available. The game was even updated to include a nanny ready for hire.
