An impending death threatens fans of 'The Mentalist' during the final episodes of the series.

In the episode titled "Nothing Gold Can Stay," one of the main characters of the police procedural series will not survive a deadly encounter.

The official synopsis of the episode reads:

"Jane takes extreme measures as the team tries to apprehend a deadly gang of armoured car robbers before their desperation to remain free costs more innocent people their lives."

Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) will be shaken during the said encounter. This could also make him think twice about his and Teresa Lisbon's (Robin Tunney) safety as they continue to work for the FBI.

Could this mean that the one will die in the episode is someone very close to the couple?

"I can't do this anymore. That could have been you in that coffin," Jane told Lisbon in the trailer for 'The Mentalist' Season 7 episode 10.

According to spoilers, Agent Michelle Vega's (Josie Loren) life will end in the said episode.

The rookie agent whose first assignment with the team helped them captured a bartender working for a big time gun smuggling ring will be fatally wounded and die because of their encounter with the car thieves.

That death will make Jane think hard about his job as an investigator for the California Bureau of Investigation. He will contemplate if it is still worth it to sacrifice one's life in order to serve and protect others.

However, there are no confirmations yet whether Agent Vega will really die in the episode or not. But Loren seems to be absent from the set during the last filming days of the series, as the actress was reportedly working for several other films like "Byzantium," "Brown Shag Carpet," as well as White Orchids.

The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 10 will air on February 4 on CBS.
