'The Last of Us Part 2' release date news: Voice actor teases an 'awesome' game following recent playtest

After the huge success of the 2013 hit survival horror video game "The Last of Us," there is a lot of pressure on Naughty Dog to make the sequel surpass the feats of the original title. Nevertheless, the recent promo stills and video teasers released by the studio are enough to show that "The Last of Us Part 2" is one of the biggest and most anticipated games in the coming years.

Naughty Dog has not shared new information about the sequel, although the game's voice actors spilled a few tidbits regarding the recent "TLOU2" playtest.

As reported by Comic Book, "The Last of Us Part 2" voice actors Troy Baker and Nolan North gave a presentation at the MCM Comic Con 2018 in Birminham, England, which also served as the right venue to reveal some information about the sequel. The two had nothing big to say about the upcoming title, although Baker, who plays Joel, gave positive remarks on "The Last of Us Part 2" following Naughty Dog's playtest.

For starters, Baker said that the development of "The Last of Us Part 2" in California is going fine, and he was able to get an early hands-on experience of the game through a recent playtest. Based on his viewpoint, Baker described the game as "awesome."

"It's a fantastic story. It's a fantastic game. We just finished a playtest. It's looking awesome. I can't for it to be on shelves." Baker said. Of course, this could be his biased opinion as he is among the voice talents to take part in "The Last of Us Part 2." Putting aside the insights on the game's quality, the playtest could be an indication that the sequel will be released soon.

The last update from Naughty Dog states that "The Last of Us Part 2" is about 60 percent complete, and it could take another year for the game to be released. It is likely that the sequel will be featured at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 in June, but there is no certainty if the game will drop as early as this year.
