The second season for the Emmy award winner "The Handmaid's Tale" has been announced a few weeks back but not much has been revealed. With the premiere of season 2 landing within 2018, here are a few things fans will want to know about it before then.

Hulu, the U.S. streaming service behind the "The Handmaid's Tale," recently confirmed that the season 2 premiere will be in April 2018. This seems fitting, considering that the first season aired last April as well. Along with its confirmation on the release date, Hulu also teased its fans with a short but intriguing synopsis of season 2.

Long story short, season 2 will focus around Offred's pregnancy and how she will need to struggle her way through to keep her child away from the horrors of Gilead. For those who do not know, the series is actually based on a 1985 novel by Margaret Atwood. The whole season 1 covered the entire book, meaning the series ended where the book ended as well.

That said, there would not be any source of spoilers for season 2. What fans do know is that they will definitely be expecting a lot especially after Elizabeth Moss, the actress who plays Offred, had some words to share about the new season. "Don't try to guess what happens in that first scene of Episode 1 in Season 2," Moss said during an interview via TV Guide, adding, "You will never get it, and I mean that objectively as a viewer. You just won't guess, and I love that so much."

Putting that aside, there are still some other things that fans can expect for sure when the upcoming season kicks off. For one, Ofglen, played by Alexis Bledel who also won an Emmy for the role, will not be in a good situation after stealing a car and running over an officer. Rita (Amanda Brugel), on the other hand, will expectedly be playing a bigger role in the new season after having received letters of the other handmaids.

Lastly, Atwood still keeps contact with the series' showrunner, Bruce Miller. Needless to say, fans will not be disappointed when season 2 comes out in a few months.
