A seasoned TV actor joins the cast of "The Good Wife."

After Kalinda Sharma (Archie Panjabi) left the State Attorney's office to run for safety after it was discovered that she faked the evidences regarding the Brady violation against Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry), Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) must find a new investigator to help her in the law firm. Good thing she meets the "calm, experienced hourly investigator" Alex to fill in the big role that Kalinda vacated when she left. But can Alex do the job?

Veteran TV actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan signed with CBS to portray the role of Alex, and he will have a recurring appearance in "The Good Wife" season 7. Morgan is known for portraying some of the most notable characters in different TV series, including the heart transplant patient Denny Duquette in "Grey's Anatomy" and the Winchester brothers' secretive father John in "Supernatural."

"The Good Wife" executive producers Robert and Michelle King praised Morgan after the casting news was announced, saying: "We've loved and admired Jeffrey Dean Morgan for years, and we were thrilled to hear that Julianna did too, so it was a no-brainer to ask him to join our troupe."

Morgan's role will be persistent throughout the legal drama's seventh season, but the number of episodes that he will be in is still unknown at the moment. This means that the 49-year-old actor will be around the CBS show for quite a while.

The actor is also starring in another CBS show called "Extant" as JD Richter, a bounty hunter/ cop who works with Halle Berry's character Molly Woods. The sci-fi mystery drama is currently airing its second season in the network.

Meanwhile, actor Matthew Goode is also not coming back to reprise his role as prosecutor Finn Polmar in the upcoming season.

"The Good Wife" season 7 will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 4.
