Is Cisco getting a Vibe costume in "The Flash" season 3? Diyah Pera/The CW

With the way things ended in the thrilling second season of "The Flash," season 3 will definitely be quite a mess for Barry (Grant Gustin), who chose to change a defining moment of his past.

In the final moments of the season 2 finale, Barry travelled back in time and saved his mother. It is unclear what this could mean, but comic book fans know where this is heading.

[Spoiler Alert! Possible details about "The Flash" season 3 below; proceed with caution]

"The Flash" season 3 is expected to feature a "Flashpoint" storyline, a famous story in the comics wherein Barry chose to save his mother, drastically changing the present.

The Justice League members are at war, Superman is unable to help, Bruce Wayne is dead, his father Thomas Wayne becomes the Batman and Barry loses his powers. In other words, the world was in chaos.

For "The Flash" season 3, it is highly likely that Barry will see the consequences of his actions and will, in turn, have to go back in time and once again let his mother die to restore the timeline.

"The Flash" already featured a "Flashpoint"-inspired storyline. It is the one where Harry (Tom Cavanagh) recreated the night Barry got his powers during the particle accelerator explosion. It won't be a surprise if they go down the "Flashpoint" route for "The Flash" season 3.

While this storyline is all but confirmed, "The Flash" star Carlos Valdes teased during the MegaCon that wherever "The Flash" season 3 is headed, "it's going to be unique and it's going to be different."

He added that the show will "honor the original chronology and the original lore" while at the same time providing a new spin on it."

Valdes plays the role of Cisco in the series. In season 2, fans watched his character master his Vibe powers. Now that he is close to fully utilizing them, the question now is whether he gets a costume for "The Flash" season 3.

"It's gotta be coming. It's coming soon. It's gotta be," Jesse L. Martin, who plays Joe in the series, told Comicbook.com. Valdes was a bit coy about it, saying "Reason would have it. That's all I'm gonna say!"

"The Flash" season 3 is expected to premiere this fall.
