The Children's Society Produces 'Leaves of Life' for a Better Community

An innovative worship resource, 'Leaves of Life' has been produced by The Children's Society to help make the community a better place for children.

Aimed at churches, children's groups and schools, the resource will be used between Easter and Pentecost (8 April -27 May), and has been designed by The Children's Society, a group of children's work advisers and the national worship development officer for the Church of England.

The all-age worship resource focuses on using the biblical image of the Tree of Life, by capturing children's prayers and reflections on its leaves and giving the congregation the opportunity to respond to them.

Children are asked what they'd like to thank God for in their lives and what they'd like to see change and then to write or draw their thoughts on a prayer leaf.

These are hung on a Tree of Life for all to see and reflect on during the service and afterwards.

Leaves of Life also offers children the chance to contribute their voices and views to The Good Childhood Inquiry, the UK's first independent national inquiry into childhood, of which the Archbishop of Canterbury is patron.
