Fans will learn more about the mysterious Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) in "The Blacklist" season 4 and why he chose to do the things he did in the last season.

Kirk claims to be the father of Liz (Megan Boone), which is impossible to Liz since she knows her father is long gone as she was the one who killed him.

It is unclear if Kirk is telling the truth and why, if he really is Liz's father, he just showed himself today and why he had to resort to carnage to reach her supposed daughter.

"Well, that's the question, right? I think you gotta tune into season 4 to learn the answer to that," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp told Deadline.

While it is unknown whether or not Kirk is Liz's father, what's certain is that Kirk is Red's (James Spader) greatest arch-nemesis and their rivalry will take a dark new turn in "The Blacklist" season 4.

"Red's knowledge about Liz and her family is a thread we've been pulling for some time. The secrets he keeps are important for a variety of reasons, but – for example – when Liz was forced to remember the fire, it helped them find the fulcrum," Bokenkamp explained.

"Red's self-interest is fueled by his history, and Kirk is part of that history. I think you're going to see we have a lot of story to tell about these two and their relationship," he went on to say.

When the last season ended, Liz was being held by Kirk. In "The Blacklist" season 4, Red will do everything he can to find her and make sure she's safe.

Bokenkamp teased that in "The Blacklist" season 4, Red will be "on fire" as he tracks down the one person he "cares about in the world."

"The Blacklist" season 4 premieres this fall.
