Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) takes down her enemies in the upcoming finale of "The Blacklist" season 4.

Titled "Mr. Kaplan," the first part of the finale will see Red (James Spader) face more challenges on his criminal organization. Determined to stay one step ahead of his adversaries, Red finds a master thief (Aldis Hodge) who works with Mr. Kaplan for a secret mission. Aram (Amir Arison) is forced to make a difficult decision when Gale (Enrique Murciano) goes out of his way to investigate the Task Force's conduct.

In the second part titled "Mr. Kaplan: Conclusion," Red sets up a high-risk plan to protect himself and the Task Force from Mr. Kaplan's attack. Now that the Task Force's future is on the line, Liz (Megan Boone) must finally confront one of the biggest mysteries about her traumatic past.

Cartermatt notes that Thursday's two-part episode will reveal several answers to long-standing questions on the show. Fans can expect blanks to be filled so the series can move forward and explore a new landscape. It is also likely that "The Blacklist" will finally feature the truth behind Liz and Red's relationship.

Another good news for viewers is that NBC has renewed the action drama for a fifth season slated to air later this year. Since its switch to Thursday-night airing, the program has found solid ground with its average 2.2 rating with almost 10 million viewers. The series also holds the spot as NBC's second most-watched drama, and season 5 will bring its milestone 100th episode.

Unfortunately, its rookie spin-off "The Blacklist: Redemption" will no longer see the light of day. Starring Famke Janssen and Ryan Eggold, the series was canceled by the network after just one season. The show focused on Tom's (Eggold) past and his relationship with his mother (Janssen). With the show's fate already decided, Eggold will now rejoin "The Blacklist" for the series regular role of Tom.

The finale for "The Blacklist" season 4 airs Thursday, May 18, at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
