'The Blacklist' season 3 spoilers: Tom joins bank heist to try and catch Liz's killer

Red (James Spader) and the rest of the Counterterrorism Division of FBI will do whatever it takes to capture Liz's (Megan Boone) killer in the next episode of "The Blacklist" season 3, including breaking the law.

In the previous episode, Red found out from Scottie Hargrave (Famke Janssen) that Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen) was the one who hired the services of her group to go after Liz, but they never intended to kill her. When Kirk learned that Scottie failed in her mission, the person responsible for Liz's death was now running after the owner of the Halcyon Aegis private military intelligence firm. This resulted in the unexpected alliance between Scottie and Red to defeat Kirk.

But working with Scottie and her group means that they have to break the law in order to find out where Kirk is hiding.

In the promo trailer for the penultimate episode, titled "Alexander Kirk," the team joins Scottie's Halcyon in a bank heist. Cooper (Harry Lennix) did not approve of the idea, but Liz's husband Tom (Ryan Eggold) will reluctantly join the team that will conduct the bank robbery plan.

In the clip, Scottie tells Tom: "We could do incredible things together." This could be the start of the pair's unlikely connection that will be the center of the show's potential spin-off.

Amir Arison talked about the individuals who formed Scottie's group in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. According to the actor who portrays the role of Aram on the show, the Halcyon is somewhat similar to their own group in the FBI.

"They have a computer guy," Arison stated. "I'm already mad at him. He's already my rival. He gets to go against the rules, and Aram has to follow the rules, even though he's a tiny bit of a rule-breaker. Mr. Solomon's like their Ressler [Diego Klattenhoff], and Nez Rowan is like their Samar [Mozhan Marnò]."

Meanwhile, Marnò teased that Red will not be very visible in the upcoming episode to focus on the new group.

"It may be the first and only less-Red-heavy show," he stated.

The penultimate episode of "The Blacklist" season 3 airs Thursday, May 12, on NBC.
