'The Big Bang Theory' season 10 spoilers: will next season see debut of Penny's mom?

Will Leonard and the fans finally meet Penny's mom in "The Big Bang Theory" season 10? CBS

"The Big Bang Theory" will be on its tenth season this year but only a few of the family members of the main characters have appeared on the show. However, fans can mark one more off their list come "The Big Bang Theory" season 10.

Rumor has it that Penny's (Kaley Cuoco) mother will finally be introduced on the show. Nothing is official yet, but "The Big Bang Theory" executive producer Steve Molaro is interested in exploring that.

"It's a little early to say for sure but we would very much like to meet Penny's mom [at the renewal of vows ceremony],"Molaro told TV Line of Penny's mom finally showing her face in "The Big Bang Theory" season 10.

It will certainly be timely for Penny's mother to finally appear in the long-running sitcom. "The Big Bang Theory" season 10 will be huge on Penny's rethinking her career path.

In the previous season, Penny admitted to Leonard (Johnny Galecki) that she is no longer happy in her job, although she said she will deal with it as a grown-up and continue to show up at work to pay her bills.

Penny's mom is often mentioned in "The Big Bang Theory," but she is never shown, not even a shadow of her. Season 10 certainly presents a lot of opportunities for her to be present.

She is expected to attend the renewal of vows of her daughter and Leonard. The ceremony is expected to be shown in "The Big Bang Theory" season 10 since the season 9 finale focused more on what was going on behind the scenes.

As for the actresses expected to play the role of Penny's mother, the buzz is that "Friends" alum Lisa Kudrow would be the perfect star for the character.

Apart from the possibility of Penny's mom showing up in "The Big Bang Theory" season 10, another possibility fans can look forward to is Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) mom and Leonard's dad potentially being a couple.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 10 is expected to premiere this fall on CBS.
