More questions were left unanswered in the final episode of "The Affair" season 1, and fans will have to wait for the next season to know the truth about Scotty's (Colin Donnell) murder.

During the final episode of Showtime's critically-acclaimed mystery drama, viewers were kept in the dark about the events leading to Scotty's murder, but they saw the present day events wherein Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilson) are living together in an apartment in New York City. After they put a girl to bed, who is presumed to be their daughter, Detective Jeffries (Victor Williams) knocks in their home to arrest Noah.

Is he being pinned for Scotty's murder? And could Noah really believe Alison when she said that she can help him get out of his present predicament?

The answers have to wait for a while, but series creator Sarah Treem tried to shed light on some of the possible scenarios for the show in the upcoming season 2 during an interview with E! Online.

When asked if viewers will find out the truth about who was responsible for Scotty's death, Treem said, "In my mind, in terms of what the truth of the crime itself is at the end, I think we need to and we are going to see that and understand what happened there objectively."

"In instances like that, where there is crime or something, where it's not basically the emotional interaction between two people ... that to me is the one moment where I actually want to know the truth. That's the moment I'm pretty sure we will see objectively, but I think the way that we get there is going to be a bit of a puzzle, so when the audience arrives at it, they will discover it for themselves," the executive producer added.

Treem also teased a major possibility in the show's second season. According to the series creator, there is a big chance that additional narratives will be introduced when "The Affair" returns next year. That would be the points of view of Noah's wife Helen (Maura Tierney) and Alison's husband Cole (Joshua Jackson).

"The Affair" season 2 is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2015.
