"The Affair" may have not totally said its goodbye to Scotty Lockhart after all. Colin Donnell, who plays the character, recently spoke about Scotty's fate in "The Affair" season 3.

[Spoiler Alert! Spoilery details from season 2 follow]

Scotty met his demise in a car accident in the previous season of "The Affair." His death was so impactful that it had the lives of the protagonists more complicatedly intertwined than ever before.

While Scotty seems to have already met his demise, Donnell believes the award-winning drama is not done with his character just yet, although he did cement his character's reappearance in "The Affair" season 3.

While he did emphasize that "right now, Scotty is very much dead," Donnell told Digital Spy that "I haven't had any discussions, but they do certainly play with time a bit over there."

Although Scotty might not appear in "The Affair" season 3, his presence will still be felt, especially because his death is the very thing that throws everyone's lives into chaos.

Helen blames for herself for Scotty's death because she was the person driving the car (Scotty's brother Cole was in the car as well) that killed Scotty.

Alison believes that it was her fault, because she pushed Scotty to the road after his intoxication started to make him a bit too touchy and cheeky to her. But this won't be the only issue in "The Affair" season 3.

This is because while Helen and Alison point their fingers at themselves, Noah takes the blame all to himself in order to protect Helen from incarceration.

"The show is going to change next season — the structure of the show is going to change in an exciting way," Maura Tierney, who plays Helen, told Variety.

The actress added that the storytelling in "The Affair" season 3 will follow a "narrative structure."

"The Affair" season 3 is expected to premiere in fall on Showtime.
