Although there is still a bit of time before the premiere of the fifth season of post-apocalyptic TV series "The 100," fans of the hit show can look forward to many intriguing developments in the show's story — a new romance and a new character introduction in the season finale.

According to Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, the upcoming fifth season of the show will introduce a new love team, but whom in the cast of characters is still unknown.

"I hear romantic sparks will fly between one of our main characters and someone aboard the mysterious prison ship," a source told EW.

Fans of the show were quick on their hands to que in guesses for the coming love arc in the show with most identifying Raven (Lindsey Morgan) and Zeke (Jordan Bolger) to play the newest couple in the well-received series.

However, that is not the only thing that has come up in the press, actor Shane Kook — well-known for his performances in "Degrassi : The Next Generation" and "The Conjuring" — has been tapped to appear as a guest star in the fifth season's finale with a possibility of returning in season 6, according to Deadline.

Although news about his character remain a mystery, Deadline disclosed that Kook will play a new character named Lucas which will most likely be an integral role seeing as he has been offered a regular stint for the yet-to-be announced season 6.

"The 100" is based on a post-apocalyptic book by author Kass Morgan. It is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth destroyed by nuclear warfare where the remaining survivors escaped toward space aboard the spaceship "The Ark." However, after 97 years of living in space, 100 juvenile prisoners are released on the now dilapidated earth, quickly setting a new system of government.

The new season of "The 100" will premiere Tuesday, April 24, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
