"The 100" just delivered another big shocker with its intense and suspenseful season 3 finale. While fans still can't move on from the drama and action of the season-ender, many are already looking ahead to "The 100" season 4.

The post-apocalyptic drama was renewed early, something that lead star Eliza Taylor, who plays Clarke, is proud of. Speaking to IGN, the actress expressed how ecstatic she was for the show to be renewed ahead of the third season.

"I was absolutely overwhelmed and happy by the renewal, because it took so long for people to get attached to it," Taylor said, adding that she was shocked that "it's only now that people are really paying attention to the show."

As the show's third season, it is expected to premiere next year. "The 100" season 4 is part of the network's midseason slate.

The CW has added four new shows including "Supergirl," which was transferred from CBS. Because of the bigger number of shows, "The 100" season 4 will not premiere until next year.

"The 100" season 3 premiered January 2016. That being said, it makes sense for "The 100" season 4 to arrive during that month next year.

Fans hoped that "The 100" season 4 will be on the fall slate of The CW as it will mean new episodes will arrive week after week with only rare skips. It also deserves to be there, with the praises it is enjoying. However, it looks like there will be long wait ahead.

[Spoiler Alert! Details about "The 100" season 3 finale follow]

It is unclear what "The 100" season 4 has in store for Clarke and the rest of the group but the death of Pike will certainly play a part in the events that will happen next.

It is also expected that "The 100" season 4 will also deal with Alie's threat about the kill switch eventually activating the obliteration of 96 percent of the planet.

The new season should reveal if Alie was telling the truth, and what Clarke and her friends will do about it. Taylor, on the other hand, has nothing to reveal about "The 100" season 4 yet, but is simply proud of the show going this far.

"I have no idea what season 4 has in store for us but I feel very grateful that we get to continue this story. There are so many shows like this that don't get the opportunity to continue their story and I'm so excited," she said.
