The pastor of Seth Ward Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas has been killed in a vehicle accident while riding his motorcycle on a service road.

According to KBCD, Pastor David Pollard was riding southbound along the road in the 1400 block of north I-27 when he collided with a pickup truck that was pulling out of a parking lot.

Pollard, who was riding a 2007 Harley David motorcycle, was immediately transported to Covenant Health Plainview, but he later passed away as a result of the injuries he sustained.

An autopsy, ordered by Hale County Justice of the Peace Sheron Collins, has been performed on Pollard. Police were not immediately able to determine the contributing factors to the accident, KBCD reported. The investigation on the incident is being conducted by local police with the help of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Seth Ward Baptist announced the pastor's passing in a brief statement the day after the incident. "It is with a heavy heart that I tell you all that our Pastor, David Pollard, passed away yesterday. He was involved in an accident and died from his injuries," the statement on Facebook read.

"He was a God loving man and preached the word. He will be missed by so many. We are comforted by the promise that absent from the body, present with the Lord," it continued.

The family also issued a statement that same day, saying: "The family would like to thank Plainview and the surrounding communities for their support shown to us during this time of grief."

"Their love and support has meant a lot to the family. We would like to thank everyone who has stopped by, brought food, or called to offer condolences".

It has been reported that Pollard was preparing to give his daughter Tori in marriage this coming July.

A Facebook post by the Caprock Plains Baptist Area recounted that Pollard came to Plainview with his family several years ago from Farwell, where he had previously served as ministry assistant.

At Seth Ward Baptist Church, Pollard served in the Children's Ministry every Wednesday night before he became the pastor, according to the social media post.

A report from MyPlainview noted that a crowdfunding campaign has been launched to assist Pollard's family. The GoFundMe page noted that the donations will help pay for Pollard's medical expenses, unforeseen expenses as well as the wedding expenses of his daughter.
