'Terminator 5' movie updates: Actor JK Simmons believes new film will surprise the audience

The fifth "Terminator" movie will be more than what fans are expecting it to be, actor JK Simmons said.

The actor, who will appear in "Terminator: Genisys" together with the original Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger and a slew of new cast members, claimed that he had fun filming the movie. He also said that there's a lot to look forward to in the new "Terminator" film.

"It has a wonderful script with many layers that I think will surprise people. It's more than just an action movie. It was a brilliant experience," he said.

The film will also feature "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke who will play the iconic role of Sarah Connor and Jason Clarke as John Connor. Jai Courtney will play Reese's character in the new film.

Simmons had nothing but praises for his co-workers, saying, "It was a lovely experience actually, working with all those actors - Emilia, Jai, Jason and Arnold."

However, several fans are skeptical about Schwarzenegger's reprisal of his character as the Terminator. Most of them believe that he might be too old for the role. For them, T-800 is a robot; therefore, he should never get old.

But James Cameron, the man responsible for the hit science fiction series, defended Schwarzenegger's return to the film.  During the 30th anniversary screening of the first "The Terminator" movie in Los Angeles, the director explained the significance of Schwarzenegger's role.

He told Deadline, "I pointed out that the outer covering (of the Terminator) was actually not synthetic, that it was organic and therefore could age. You could theoretically have a Terminator that was sent back in time, missed his target, and ended up just kind of living on in society. Because he is a learning computer and has a brain as a central processor he could actually become more human as he went along without getting discovered."

"Terminator: Genisys" is being directed by Alan Taylor and produced by David Ellison and Dana Goldberg. The film will premiere on July 1, 2015.
