Terminator 5 movie plot: All characters from original film to return

Though the summer blockbuster season of 2014 is still rolling as of the moment, fans are already looking forward to the current list of movies scheduled to be released next year, including the much awaited fifth installment of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator franchise.

The movie, which is officially dubbed as Terminator: Genesis, had been talked about since 2013. Now that the main cast is slowly being filled, the excitement about this movie is starting to build up as early as now.

Some of the reported cast members include Game of Throne's Emilia Clarke, who will play the young Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney of Die Hard 5, who will be Kyle Reese, as well as Dawn of the Planet Apes' Jason Clarke as this installment's John Connor. Director Alan Tayor of Thor 2 will take the lead in the production of this star-studded action film.

Rumors had been circling for quite some time about the major plot of this film. The script, written by Laeta Kalogridis of Bionic Woman and Patrick Lussier of Drive Angry, reportedly features Schwazenegger's reprised role as the protector of the young Sarah Connor, and shifted the timeline back further into the earlier events of the story. Because of the time travel elements in the franchise, the writers made this plot possible.

According to Screen Rant's reputable source, the timeline of the movie will evolve around the events that happened between 1984, which happens to be the setting of the first film, and 1991, when Terminator 2: Judgement Day happened. It also involves a few other significant events during the life of the Connor family.

The source said, "The 'Terminator' from the future will arrive on earth, attack some punks (keen to see who they get to play 'Bill Paxton'), and then slaughter his way through a bunch of Sarah Connors' – until he finds the correct target."

It is also reported that Kyle Reese is supposedly following the Terminator back in the past, but other characters featured from James Cameron's original installment will join them.

"And all the characters that appeared in the Cameron original, like Detective Hal Vukovich (played by Lance Henriksen in the original), Lieutenant Ed Traxler (played by Paul Winfield way back when), Sarah's roomie Ginger (Bess Motta in the '84 film) and, yep, even Pugsley the Iguana, return. So, yep, we'll likely get to see Schwarzenegger back in the leather jacket and cool sunglasses he wore in the original."

The said information may be or may not be verified in the coming days, since no word yet from the creators and producers have been released as of the moment.

Terminator 5 is expected to be released on July 1, 2015.
