Just less than a week since "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice was settled at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut to serve her 15-month imprisonment for fraud, the reality star is already embroiled in new controversies involving her and the outside world.
Over the weekend, RadarOnline reported that Giudice and her sister-in-law and "RHONJ" co-star Melissa Gorga are not in good terms. The ladies and Teresa's brother Joe, who also happens to be Melissa's husband, even had a spat over the phone days before she headed to jail.
According to the site's source, "Teresa called many people the night before she went to prison. Two of the people she called happened to be Melissa and Joe. She was insistent that they were partially to blame for her jail sentence, because they came on the Real Housewives of New Jersey and made her look bad."
The source also divulged that though the family members ended their phone conversation amicably, the Gorgas still felt offended after Teresa blamed them for her current legal problem.
Meanwhile, Teresa's state in prison is somewhat "upbeat and positive," according to other sources. However, her family failed to visit her during her first Saturday behind bars. According to reports, Teresa's husband Joe and two of her daughters Gia, 14, and Milania, 8, spent their Saturday in a cheerleading contest.
Gia was reportedly competing in the 12th Annual Cavo Cheer Challenge at her school during that day, while her sister and father came to watch. After the competition, the family of three returned to their home in Towaco, where Joe met up with possible buyers for their home that is allegedly selling for $2.9 million.
The other Giudice daughters, 10-year-old Gabriella and 5-year-old Audriana, were reportedly left at home while the three were away.
Meanwhile, People reported that Teresa's 15-month sentence may possibly be shortened, according to her lawyer James J. Leonard Jr.
"You do 85 percent of your term. So 85 percent for her is 12 and ¾ months. Then, you are eligible on that date for halfway house or home confinement for another 6 months or 10 percent of her sentence ... She's aware of that," the lawyer said.
This means that the "RHONJ" star might possibly be released on Feb. 5 next year.
