"Teen Mom 2" star Leah Messer has, at long last, won shared custody of her twins Ali and Aleeah, her six year-old daughters with her co-star and former husband Corey Simms. Messer is elated over the news.
"Leah is doing great," a source close to Messer told Us Weekly. "She had confidence that she would be proven right and get her custody rights back," the insider added.
"Teen Mom 2" fans will remember that back in October, Simms was granted full custody of the twins after Messer was accused that she was not taking the kids to school and if she did, they were always tardy.
Messer strongly falsified these accusations. She also took time to enroll herself at a treatment facility for a whole month so as to get over her anxiety and depression issues to become a more effective mother.
"[Leah] proved in court that the kids were not tardy to school, so the judge said there was no reason the kids shouldn't be with their mom predominantly," the insider explained, thus leading to Messer finally back in her kids' lives.
Simms, on the other hand, is just happy being able to come to an agreement "that works best for the girls." This very agreement happens to allow Messer's ex-husband to be with the twins one weekend a month.
"She was never asking for full custody. She wants the girls to be able to see their dad," the source explained, regarding Messer's decision to divide up the guardianship rather than getting the kids all to herself.
Messer and Simms are trying to find a way to "split the bills 50-50" in co-parenting young Ali and Aleeah.
Messer has a third child from her marriage with ex-husband and "Teen Mom 2" star Jeremy Calvert. Simms, meanwhile, just welcomed his new baby girl Remi with new wife Miranda.
