Masahiro Sakurai has revealed that DLC releases for "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U and 3DS will end soon.
The game director dropped the news through an interview featured in the book "Making of Fire Emblem: 25 Years of Development Secrets" that was translated by Kantopia and SourceGaming.
In the interview, Sakurai was asked about his plans for the "Super Smash Bros." DLC. The game director answered, "Well, DLC is coming to an end soon, too, you know?"
The downloadable content for the fourth installment of the popular fighting game began releasing additional characters in April. The first line of characters from the downloadable roster includes Lucas from "Mother 3," Roy from "Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade," and the original "Street Fighter" character Ryu.
Nintendo also launched a special ballot between April 1 to Oct. 3 to allow players to choose the next character who will be added in the game. This resulted in the inclusion of "Final Fantasy" character Cloud Strife starting Dec. 15.
Sakurai also revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct streaming that the last downloadable characters for "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U will be "Fire Emblem Fates" character Corrin and Bayonetta from Sega's popular "Bayonetta" series.
Based on the Nintendo Direct presentation, players have the option to play the male and female versions of Corrin as soon as the character comes out. Corrin will join other "Fire Emblem" characters like Robin, Marth, Ike, and Lucina in the latest installment of "Super Smash Bros."
Bayonetta will wear both the original and "Bayonetta 2" costumes as well as her special red-colored "Jeanne" costume when the character joins the fighting game. Both Corrin and Bayonetta will debut in "Super Smash Bros." in Feb. 2016.
Meanwhile, Sakurai also answered a question regarding the possibility of coming up with a new game aside from "Super Smash Bros." According to Sakurai, "It's pretty difficult. If I keep making Smash, I get to work on interesting things like Ryu, but if I leave, I don't know if the staff could do it by themselves."
